What is Clogging/ Powertap?
Clogging/power tap is an exciting genre of dance that combines elements of clogging, tap, and many other forms. It is usually, but not exclusively, performed to contemporary music that has been cut or beat-mixed to include the most exciting rhythms and sounds of the songs. Dancers wear tap shoes with a special split sole that allows them to do fancy footwork on their toes. It is a very aerobic style of dance that is progressive, exciting, and challenging.
Directors
K & C’s Fab Five is arguably the best clogging and power tap program in the South Weber, Morgan, and Ogden areas. Directors Kandice Anderson and Cambria Gibson have been teaching kids to dance and performing for over twenty years. In 2009, they decided to combine their love of Dance and started K & C’s Fab 5 Studio. They have performed with dancers in venues such as the National Junior Dance Olympics, Disneyland, the Grand Ole Opry, and Branson, Missouri.
In 2009, Cambria’s team of sisters were finalists on NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent.’ Check out their videos at www.fab5sisters.com.
Since starting their business, they have been in the top 10 for Director of the Year at the America Onstage Stage National Dance Championships, and in 2013 and 2014, they were honored to be ranked #1 for both Years.
Kandice and Cambria are both in the Hall of Fame with America On stage and they have both earned their Ring of Glory; making the All American team for over 20 years. Between the 2 of them they have 18, ‘Most Valuable Performer’ received at the national dance competitions. They are both Medalists from the Jr. Olympics. They have both received top honors in freestyle, solos, duet, short-duet and team categories.
One of the best attributes of K & C's Fab 5 Studio is the teachers! K & C's Fab 5 Studio teachers are not just qualified teachers, but they are HIGHLY qualified teachers. Every team, whether it is the 3 yr olds or the 18 yr olds, is taught by the best of the best! Teachers with numerous MVP's in individual and team events, who have danced for 20 plus years, and have taught anywhere from 10-20 years! Teachers who know this form of dance, inside and outside, and can help dancers reach their highest and fullest potential. Since our teachers compete or have competed in the Professional division themselves, (the highest level of Powertap) this enables them to help students attain this same high-quality level of dance.
Many studios can only boast of 1 teacher with such qualifications, however, K & C's Fab 5 Studio can boast of 5, Ayrion Myers, Amanda Nelson, Cambria Gibson, Kandice Anderson, Shantel Ellis, and Ashley Rasmussen! A feature that ONLY K & C's Fab 5 studio is honored to have! In order for students to become great, they have to be taught by the most qualified teachers available, and K & C's Fab 5 Studio is thrilled to be able to offer their dancers such an extraordinary opportunity to be taught from the best!
